KELVIS
A SHORT DOCUMENTARY BY JACOB R SCHWAR (coming soon)
Kevin Elsbury or better known by many as ‘KELVIS’ is a local resident of the market town of Romford in the London Borough of Havering. For 15 years he has been seen out and about town, dragging along his ‘boogie box’ and microphone whilst dressed head to toe in one of his multiple Elvis Presley costumes with which he puts on a free musical performance for the people of Romford whilst raising money for local charities.
This documentary shall serve to document and celebrate a very unique individual who has always been a positive and uplifting force within an ever-changing suburban environment, which has experienced much change from redevelopment and immigration in the past 15 years. The documentary will also provide some insight and backstory into the man behind KELVIS, hopefully putting some answers to the questions as to why he continues to do his tribute act and why he is so passionate about bringing happiness to lives of complete strangers in his local town.

Filmed entirely during the Covid pandemic from October 2020 – February 2021, IACRH is an experimental student documentary film which combines poetry and self-shot footage whilst focusing on the district of East London, looking specifically at the changes gentrification and globalization will eventually have on its landscape, architecture and communities. This film had its first public screening at the annual Romford Film Festival in 2022 as part of their UK Short Film Showcase.
